Indiana and Michigan Awarded Weekly Field Hockey Honors

ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its field hockey weekly award winners for games played October 11-13.

Offensive Player of the Week
Abby Tamer, Michigan
Jr. – F/M – Whitmore Lake, Mich. – Dexter

• Led all Big Ten players with a seven-point weekend, totaling two goals and three assists
• Factored in five of eight goals scored by the fifth-ranked Wolverines, who swept Rutgers and Ball State
• Leads Michigan with a career-high 10 goals, nine assists and 29 points
• The U.S. Olympians garners her first career Big Ten weekly award

Defensive Player of the Week
Sadie Canelli, Indiana
Fr. – G – Boxford, Mass. – Pingree School

• Led Indiana to a pair of wins, allowing one goal in 137 minutes of action
• Stopped four shots in a 2-1 double overtime win against No. 12 Iowa in Iowa City
• Followed up 24 hours later with a 4-0 shutout of Monmouth to finish with a 0.44 goals-against average and .800 save percentage for the week
• Receives first Big Ten weekly honor

Freshman of the Week
Mijntje Hagen, Indiana
Fr. – F – Zeist, Netherlands – KSG de Breul

• Registered five points on the weekend, helping Indiana to wins over No. 12 Iowa and Monmouth in Iowa City
• Assisted on first goal and played 53 minutes in Indiana’s first win over Iowa since 2015
• Scored two goals on three shots versus Monmouth as Indiana matched its wins total from a season ago
• Collects first Big Ten weekly award
